The Enhanced Membership ePortfolio (EMeP) is a comprehensive interactive membership, training, database and administration tool that manages the ‘whole-of-life’ lifecycle of training programs – enrolment, training, and professional development while enabling significant administrative oversight and feedback through ‘real-time’ data.
The EMeP will:
- Provide an exceptional framework and curriculum linked education and training framework to enhance training efficiency;
- Re-conceptualise workforce through structured and coherent education, training and professional development;
- Improve patient outcomes through a system-wide approach to training;
- Provide innovative organisation and administrative solutions to improve management and tracking of training, assessment and verification;
- Allow for ‘real-time’ data reporting, enabling significantly improved management of workforce and resources.

Implementation of the EMeP will directly shape the training experience of doctors involved in the training and professional development by providing an intuitive framework in which to plan and participate in professional development, log experience, undertake any required assessment, view and enrol in accredited training opportunities from across the state and update their professional achievement and experience. The EMeP will provide doctors with a structured framework aligned and blueprinted to the training curricula in which to plan, undertake, and achieve their professional development. In doing so, they will achieve credentialing and quality framework administrative requirements and ‘construct’ their Curriculum Vitae with documented evidence of their levels of competence. The efficiency of a single online portal should not be understated.
Training Supervisors require a framework and easy reference in order to effectively provide feedback and direction for the doctors they are supervising. Often, supervisors are responsible for multiple trainees, all at different stages of potentially different training programs. This leads to a very challenging context for effective mentoring and supervision. Training Supervisors require support for their interaction with the trainee, with easy reference to the syllabus, outcome statements, competencies and training opportunities. EMeP will provide this framework; the portal will allow Training Supervisors to view all aspects of the trainee’s professional development experience, direct and suggest future training, monitor achievement and competency development and provide effective and purposeful feedback.
Training and Professional Development Providers
The EMeP system will enable potential professional development and training providers to complete an online application and be approved to promote their training to members and trainees. The booking of places on approved courses, workshops or access to online modules would then be directed through the EMeP system, potentially with payment processed at this time. As part of the accreditation, the provider would be responsible for recording participants and certifying their completion of the training, which will then be automatically updated into each participant’s record of training – their portfolio.
The administrative oversight provided through the deployment of a coherent single database and interface is significant. Multiple iMIS databases can be incorporated into the EMeP automatically without any need for data entry, and there is no need to alter current IT and database systems in operation within the organisation
The administration portal will provide real-time information about:
- What training is being offered;
- Who is participating in the training;
- Participant progress;
- Accreditation and credentialed experience and training;
- Workforce and training data and trends
